As Learning & Engagement Officer at Lakeland Arts, I led the 'In The Moment' dementia program from 2017-2018. The program offered weekly and monthly art activities for people living with dementia. The workshops promoted living well with dementia through creativity and social connectivity.
I led activities inspired by exhibits across Lakeland Arts during the weekly art group. I also led monthly dementia-friendly art tours at Abbot Hall Art Gallery. I delivered the program with the support of a dedicated team of volunteers. I also contracted freelance artists to co-run sessions and special projects. Our weekly and monthly activities were punctuated by intergenerational community projects and 'Creative Age Challenge' fundraising initiatives with local schools.
Lakeland Arts ran 'In The Moment' from 2014-2019 with support from funders including Arts Council England, Equal Arts, Cumbria County Council, and the Hadfield Trust. It is now run by Space 2 Create, led by Donna Campbell who has been involved with 'In The Moment' since it began.
