When Claude Monet's 'Haystack: Snow Effect' (1891) was on display at Abbot Hall Art Gallery, I led a series of community workshops with the In The Moment dementia group, the Every First Tuesday dementia group, Space 2 Create, and Manna House.
I ran outreach sessions at Space 2 Create and Manna House before the groups came to Abbot Hall Art Gallery. During these outreach workshops, I projected the painting onto the wall and we recreated it with pastels. Running outreach workshops with groups at their normal venues made participants feel more comfortable going off-site. Meeting the group and introducing the painting in advance also led to deeper engagement when we were in the gallery.
